Financial Assistance & Care Management

Senior couple meeting with doctor

At JFCS we know that one small shift or change in circumstance can lead to financial challenges. We are committed to doing what we can to help individuals and families meet these challenges by providing a full range of services to help access the resources that can steer people towards financial stability.

JFCS staff work diligently with those that come to us for assistance. We spend time getting to know each individual’s circumstances and set goals that are most important to each person. We then create a thoughtful and comprehensive plan with each person for improved financial stability.

We’re here to help navigate what can be an intimidating and frustrating process of forms and applications to identify possible benefits and maximize accessible funds. We’ll assist throughout any enrollment processes, helping to obtain the proper documents and making calls to advocate on behalf of those with whom we work.

Step by step, by first completing a thorough assessment that reviews one’s housing and utilities, food access, financial challenges, physical and mental health needs, and safety and security, we bring an individual or family back to more stability.

The assessment then helps us to partner with individuals to develop a comprehensive plan that meets needs and expectations, identifying the important goals and how JFCS can help achieve them.

The last step is implementing the plan, helping people take action to achieve financial stability by:

  • Guiding and helping with benefit applications
  • Helping obtain necessary documentation for benefits
  • Advocating on behalf of people as they navigate the system
  • Linking to credit counseling
  • Supportive one-on-one or family counseling
  • Referrals and connections to community partners or outside agencies
