ELKINS PARK, PA — The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia is hosting a Holocaust Survivor Day Celebration on Wednesday.
The event takes place from Noon to 2 p.m. at the Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, in Elkins Park.
The 5th annual Holocaust Survivor Day brings Philadelphia-area Holocaust survivors and their families together for a special afternoon of celebration, connection, and joy with Klezmer music and dancing.
Launched in June 2021, Holocaust Survivor Day is a celebratory day recognizing the resilience, strength, and spirit of survivors.
Officially recognized in both the Commonwealth and Philadelphia in 2023 through proclamations by Gov. Josh Shapiro and then Mayor Jim Kenney, the day serves as a powerful reminder of survival, hope, and the importance of community.
“As the number of living Holocaust survivors continues to decline, it is the responsibility of the next generation to carry their stories forward and to ensure survivors have access to the care, connection, and support services they deserve to age with dignity,” organizers said.
