OUR CLOSET In Your Neighborhood
Our Closet In Your Neighborhood (OCIYN) is a free mobile program that provides those in need across our city with the basic necessities of food and clothing, as well as access to services and benefits. The OCIYN bus visits host sites in under-resourced neighborhoods and central locations with fresh, healthy produce and pantry staples, a mini pop-up clothing shop, and an onsite social worker. Host sites include churches, synagogues, hospitals, community centers, and agency partners. There are no referrals required or forms to fill out. All free, quality food and clothing items are provided with dignity and respect in a warm and welcoming environment.
OCIYN also provides customized packages of emergency clothing delivered straight to those in need, as well as food package delivery to homebound clients.
Food
Visitors to OCIYN receive fresh, locally-sourced produce and pantry staples
Clothing
Visitors are welcome to shop for 10 free, quality items of clothing, shoes, and accessories per person, with a limit of 25 total per family to allow for all to receive what they need.
Social Services
A JFCS social worker is present at every OCIYN event to connect those in need to additional services and benefits for which they may be eligible.
Volunteers
Volunteers are critical to OCIYN and are needed to assist shoppers at our pop-up events around the city, as well as for grocery delivery and sorting clothing donations at our warehouse. Individuals, families, school groups, and corporate volunteers are all welcome. If you are interested in making a meaningul impact as an OCIYN volunteer, contact Brianna Torres, Volunteer Coordinator, at 267.256.2261 or btorres@jfcsphilly.org.
Clothing Donations
Clothing donations are core to the work of OCIYN, and we are so appreciative of all who help in this way. We accept casual clothing and shoes for women, men, and children of all ages and sizes, in excellent condition (please no stains or tears and clothing that is not overly worn). To make a clothing donation to OCIYN, please contact Skylar Fox, Operations Coordinator, at 267.273.5537 or sfox@jfcsphilly.org.
