The Teen Empowerment Program (TEP) provides teens with a springboard to become future leaders in the community. TEP teens act as a foundation, experience the grants and allocations process, volunteer with JFCS clients, & use real funds to make an impact.

TEP program participants will experience:

  • Our Closet in Your Neighborhood
  • Food Supports Program
  • People Living with Disabilities

FIRST YEAR PROGRAM (Ages 13 & 14)

Fundamentals of Giving — Teens focus on Jewish values, philanthropy, and the grants and allocations process. Participants learn about JFCS programs and, as a group, select the programs for which they volunteer, allocate funds, and make an impact.

SECOND YEAR PROGRAM (Ages 14 & 15)

Fundraising 101 — Teens will build on the values explored last year, learn how to become passionate advocates for causes they care about, as well as effective fundraisers, working together to raise money for JFCS programs by planning and executing a suc-cessful fundraiser.

THIRD YEAR PROGRAM (Ages 15 & 16)

Becoming Grant Writers — In this expanded leadership program, teens collaborate with JFCS staff to write their own grants, learn-ing to effectively advocate for programs about which they are passionate. Teens will inform the grants through hands-on volun-teering with JFCS.
